SMASHING PUMPKINS to break up. Lead singer Billy Corgan announced on May 23 that his band has smashed its last pumpkin. According to Billboard, after finishing up their current tour and recording a final album, the band will part ways by year's end. Corgan said the PUMPKINS are "at the end of our road emotionally, spiritually, and musically."
EDDIE VAN HALEN health report. Sonicnet.com reports that all rumors and "official statements" aside, the guitar god EDDIE VAN HALEN was not admitted to a hospital in Houston because he had cancer, but rather to participate in a clinical trial for a cancer preventing treatment.
New from GREEN DAY. It's been about three years since the Dookie boys dropped their last album, Nimrod. Rolling Stone reports that the band has a new album in the works for October release entitled Warning. Catch GREEN DAY at this summer's Vans Warped Tour.
